Prof. Dr. Ir. Rachmat Witoelar (Indonesia)
Chairman of National Council on Climate Change (DNPI).
Former State Minister for Environment and President’s Special Envoy for Climate Change, Indonesia, Prof.(Hon) Rachmat Witoelar is currently the Indonesia President’s Special Envoy for Climate Change and the Executive Chairperson of the Indonesia National Council on Climate Change. He was the President of COP 13/CMP 3 held in Bali, Indonesia in 2007. Prof. Witoelar served as the Minister of Environment in 2004–2009. Prior to his post as the Indonesian Ambassador to Russia (1993–1997), he had a long tenure as a member of the Indonesian Parliament (1971–1993). He received a Medal of Highest Honour from the Turkmenistan government (1996), the Satya Lencana Penegak from The Indonesian Government (1970), and Bintang Mahaputra Adipradana from The Indonesian Government (2010). He received Honorary Professorship in Environmental Management from Griffith University, Australia on 20 March 2008
